GENUINE WOOD SALE

A couple of years ago one of the stalwarts of the Maleny woodies group, Brian Thomas, suddenly passed away leaving his wife Meg the problem of shifting all of his equipment and wood stocks.    She was helped by two of our members, Percy Zinn and Terry O'Connor who went through Brian's slabs, timber, burls and blocks advising her of a fair price.

Those stocks have largely remained untouched since due to Meg's circumstances and she recently talked to Ken Urquhart about how best to move them along, hence this notice.

So if any BRWG member is interested in camphor laurel slabs of all sizes, red cedar slabs and blocks, beech panels and posts, jacaranda, silky oak, large slabs of bunya pine, and many burls and roots suitable for something special, give Meg a ring on 5494 2037, mention where you are from, and arrange a visit to her property in Maleny.

BRISBANE ROUTER COURSE

We have sufficient numbers expressing an interest in this course and Ken Urquhart will communicate with each of the members placing their names on the sheet and arrange a suitable date for the event.    Call Ken (5442 9254) in the next week if he hasn't been in touch.    Cost of the course will be $100 each and car pooling is suggested as the best means of getting down and back.    We look forward to a huge step up in router use quality and quantity.

SUCCESSFUL EXPO

We estimate that over 1000 people visited our 8th EXPO, with around $800 being donated at the door.    Dave Southern again covered himself in glory by taking out three first prizes and the overall Guild Champion.    It was pleasing to see some new entrants displaying their craft and a number taking out awards.

We need to thank some special helpers including Audrey Kelly for the best ever tea and coffee stall (over $250), John Thynne and John Drewe for taking responsibility for the BBQ, Hamish Borthwick, Warne Wilson and Kaz Depczynski for the demonstrations, Jacqi Porteous for being their the entire time looking after our monies, Ray Curry and Cec Wakerley for taking care of the judges and the overall display, Gerry Zwart for the advertising and for the huge number of other assistants who chipped in wherever their help was required.    Overall a very successful event.

And the EXPO Raffle raised over $2100 - our thanks to all those who sold or bought tickets and for spreading the burden.  Lucky Dave Banister won the third prize and he looks great riding it!.   1st prize went to a lady in Mapleton, and 2nd prize to a delightful 80+ fellow from Flaxton who is an important member of the Montville Masonic Lodge.
