The Miracle of WD 40

This product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent & degreaser to protect missile parts.   It was created in 1953 at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company.   Its name comes from the project that was to find a “water displacement” compounds.   They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.

SANDING BELTS & DISCS

Ian Colpoys uses about 30ml of a truck washing liquid in 4 litres of water, leaves his sandpaper in it for about 2 hours then uses a wire brush to remove all the loose material from the sandpaper —works like magic he says.

What’s truck washing liquid you ask—go to somewhere like Super Cheap Auto & ask.   One trade product is ‘Koala Care Super Wash’ which Ian swears by.

His rejuvenated sandpaper looks like new.
