Have a look around our show....

Each year at the end of May or early June the Maleny Show Ground is the home of the Caloundra City Show.  A local country show is more than just rides - fairyfloss and knock them down clowns.  It is more about meeting friends and neighbours who we may not see for periods of time because of the busy times that we now find ourselves.

When the gates of the Maleny show grounds are open on the Friday morning everthing is in place for the community to have a great time.  Not too many think of the long periods of time that volunteers put into getting the show ready for another year.

Volunteers work at putting together programs - ensuring that entries are processed for the various events that would be held over the next two days.

The few weeks immediately prior to the show sees a small army of workers turn out each day at the show grounds to build the basis of the show by putting up tents, clean the permanent buildings, organise the trade display sites, prepare places for the various types of animals that would be displayed during the period of the show.

Whilst not as important today in the past country shows have played an important part in the social and business of many country communities.
