General InformationMALENY SHOW: Every year around the end of May the Maleny Showgrounds is the hub of excitement in Maleny when the Caloundra City Show comes to town. Just ask the volunteers who work from daylight until dark to bring this weekend of friendship and fun to our community. Year after year those volunteers return to the showgrounds to help prepare for the big event. Each year the show brings new events and surprises to those who attend.
Caloundra City Show has a reputation for being one of the best shows around for its size in Queensland. Competitors come from all over the State to compete in events such as horse events, show jumping, beef and dairy exhibits. The poultry section continues to attract much attention. Another popular event is the dog show and competition on the Saturday. There will also be a dog jumping competition on Saturday afternoon.
Each year the show brings new events and surprises to those who attend.
In the Pavilion and the Arts and Crafts buildings are displays in cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, floral art, plants and flower arrangements. The fruit and vegetable display gives a great indication of the diversity of products grown in our district. One is often amazed by the talents shown by those who live around us and we can see some of those talents in the woodwork, fine arts and photography sections.
During the days there is entertainment both in the ring and around the grounds, with puppets, face painting, mini trotters, sideshow alley, bands, dance exhibitions, fashion parades. The Friday night woodchop and Saturday woodchop competitions always draw a big crowd.
Traditionally trade displays from a diverse range of businesses line the avenues between the various venues. The annual show was always the time and place when one could look at a potential new car or tractor, or buy a hat or a balloon. Show bags, fairy floss and all the traditional fun of the fair will abound.
Application for Membership Form can be made by filling in the e-mail at the end of this article. Family membership is by far the most economical way of seeing the Show. Tickets will be available from Maleny Newsagency leading up to the Show and at the Show Secretary's Office in the Showgrounds up till the Thursday afternoon before the Show.
The Maleny Show is a great showcase for businesses to expose their products and services in a cost effective way to large numbers of potential patrons. Trade displays allow businesses to make personal contact with potential customers.
For Trade Display queries please ring the Secretary on 54 94 2008 to have application forms sent to you.
