1901 Australia becomes a nation and Qld, previously a colony, is now a state.
1903 Maleny Co-operative Dairy Association starts operation.
1903 Weekly half-day holiday introduced for Sunshine Coast workers.1903 Montville School of Arts building opens.
1905 Gold discovered in Conondale Range by an indigenous person, Andrew Ball.
1912 The shires of Landsborough, Kilcoy and Caboolture form.
1914 The first picture show is screened in the Montville School of Arts hall.
1918 Sheep farming experiment starts at Beerburrum Soldier Settlement – it fails due to dingoes.
1919 Schools close because of influenza and diphtheria; children's throats are swabbed with kerosene.
1928 Bert Hinkler passes Caloundra on his England to Australia flight.
1929 Landsborough Shire bans bullock teams on council roads.
1930 First aircraft to land in Maleny is a Gypsy Moth.
1933 Maleny Show postponed until 1935 because of the Great Depression.
1937 A fashionable Spanish-style bathing pavilion is built at Kings Beach.
1938 English replaces German in Lutheran church services at Witta.
1941 A street parade is held in Caloundra for sailors of the US fleet.
1944 Nambour becomes central control for prisoner of war groups, providing labourers for farms.
1947 Caloundra Topic, first Caloundra Newspaper, is published.
1952 Sir Raphael Cilento donates 10.5ha to Maroochy Shire Council for a park.
1952 Police Station at Maleny established.
1952 Wildhorse Fire Tower in the parish of Beerwah is built.
1963 Sir Raphael Cilento unveils Flinders Memorial at Tibrogargan Creek, Glass House Mountains.
1970 Mapleton/Flaxton to Montville road opens.
1974 The great Beerburrum mail robbery. At the time, it was the largest mail robbery in Australia.
1974 Chenrezig Institute, a centre for Buddhist study, meditation and retreat, opens at Eudlo.
1983 Sunshine Coast rescue helicopter moves to its permanent home at Maroochydore Airport.
1985 Inaugural race meeting is held at Corbould Park, Caloundra.
1986 Maroochy Airport's first 737 flight touches down.
1987 Mike Ahern, the member for Landsborough, becomes Queensland Premier.
1994 1000 people evacuated in the Glass House Mountains area during severe bushfires.
1999 Sunshine Coast University College officially opens.
2000 First police station and council public library for Beerwah opens.
