Toastmasters Week; 19th - 24th February
For Toastmasters week, we will have a display at the Maleny Library, with information and magazines for anyone interested to take to read.
Speechcraft Course
On Tuesday 6th February we commenced an eight week Speechcraft course for some of the members and volunteers of Barung Landcare. We are available to run Speechcraft courses for any other interested group.
The ideal size is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10. This gives the participants a basic but intensive course in Public Speaking, and covers such items as Prepared Speeches, Impromptu Speaking, Evaluation of speakers presentations and other minor roles, all designed to enhance a speakers ability to construct and present a well-prepared speech.
It is also a great boost to the speaker’s self-confidence.
For further information ring Shirley on 5494 3933.
New Toastmaster Members
At the meeting on 8th February, three new Toastmasters presented their "Icebreaker" speeches. The Icebreaker is the first of ten speeches from the Communication and Leadership manual. The completion of this manual takes Toastmasters to the level of Competent Communicator (CC). At this point they will be issued with a new badge which will reflect this achievement. Members may then select two further manuals to work from, such as Interpretive Reading, Interpersonal Communication, Specialty Speeches etc.
We also had a member who has not been with the club for some time rejoin the membership.
This is a flourishing, happy and energetic club and welcomes all visitors.
