"Well Done Maleny Toastmasters!"

Maleny Toastmasters achieved excellent results at the recent Area 22 Conference and Speech Contests held at Buderim North on the 13th October.   Maleny Toastmasters’ own Pat Wyllie was awarded the Area 22 Toastmaster of the Year award which is an outstanding achievement.

Jim Fraser entertained all in the ‘humorous’ section with his very enlightening views on travel with his ‘Fear of Flying’ speech winning second place.

Marguerite May kept the audience entranced with her speech in the International section entitled, ‘Public Benefactor No.1. The Sun”, for which she was also awarded second place.    The conference was well run through excellent teamwork and very entertaining.

Everyone is welcome to come along to our meetings.

Maleny Toastmasters meet at the Maleny Baptist Church, Cnr. Landsborough and McCarthy Roads, Maleny every second and fourth Thursday at 7.00 p.m.

Newest Toastmaster is inducted

Maleny Toastmasters were delighted to welcome their newest member, Martin Pedder at his induction into the club last Thursday.

Martin gave a very entertaining icebreaker speech and proved to be an experienced speaker through his earlier training in Speechcraft courses.

If you would also like the opportunity to develop your communication and leadership skills as well as fostering self confidence and personal growth in a supportive and entertaining environment please come along for a visit. “High Achievers! 

A very special night was held at Maleny Toastmasters last meeting when many achievement awards were presented to those well deserving members who had excelled in their individual goals.

Pat Wyllie was accredited as the Maleny Toastmaster of The Year for 2006/07.    Norm Siemon received the President’s Award for his many services to the community, especially in regard to the Speechcraft program and Marguerite May was delighted to be presented with the Achiever of The Year award.These members know that Toastmasters is all about, learning new skills, striving for goals you have set yourself and feeling the satisfaction that goes with a job well done as well as enjoying the good company of others along the way.

A Family Affair!

Flint de Frenne watched with great interest as his father, Wolfgang, gave his tenth speech entitling him to receive his Competent Toastmaster badge.    

Wolfgang, who lives at Crystal Waters, explained in his speech the benefits of cutting back on energy usage and how to reduce your energy footprint in the world and make a difference.Flint do Frenne has just graduated from the speechcraft program at Connondale school presented by Margaret Richter & Norm Siemon from Maleny toastmasters.Wolfgang was also kind enough to help in the program with Flint and nineteen other children at Connondale School.

Happy 17th Birthday to Maleny Toastmasters Club There was singing and laughter in the Maleny Hills on Thursday evening as the members of Maleny Toastmasters club celebrated both their 17th Birthday and executive changeover night.Thanks to the efforts of the outgoing executive of Shirley Aldrick, Pat Wyllie and Margaret Richter the club keeps moving from strength to strength with a membership of over twenty dedicated members who consistently excel in their personally selected challenges.The incoming executives of Margaret Richter (president), Pat Wyllie (Vice President Membership), Kathy Nieminen (continuing Treasurer) and Dianne Schiemann (Vice President Public Relations) know that they have big shoes to fill to continue to build on the great tradition of inspiring example, nurturing through mentoring and friendship that has been the foundation of the Maleny Toastmasters Club.If you would like to take part in our meetings and improve your own personal strengths in a friendly and non-threatening atmosphere please feel free to come along and visit.
