Lloyd Larney receives Australia Day Award
by Cameron Outridge

Maleny stalwart Lloyd Larney on Saturday received a prestigious Australia Day Achievement Award from State RSL president John Burgess. The award came as a total surprise to Mr Larney and was presented at the Maleny RSL Reunion Luncheon at the RSL Hall in front of 200 guests.

Although the award was presented at an RSL event, it represents acknowledgement of all-round achievement within the community.

“Lloyd Eric Larney for the past 32 years has willingly and unselfishly devoted himself to activities and organisations within the Maleny Community,’’ the citation said.

The organisations include Maleny State School Parents and Citizens Association, Maleny Scouts, the Rotary Club of Maleny, the Maleny Bowls Club, Maleny State Emergency Service, Maleny Bush Fire Brigade, Uniting Church of Maleny, Neighbourhood Watch, Maleny Show Society and RSL Maleny Sub Branch.

“His achievements have both been beneficial to the Maleny Community and set a standard of excellence in achievement admired by all,’’ the Citation concluded.)
