Scarecrow Festival only a week away

The Maleny Scarecrow Festival is just over a week away. Organisers said they had been flat out responding to enquiries and processing entry forms. The annual event coincides with the September school holidays.

“It presents an opportunity for the community to share creative energy, spirit and pride,’’ said Festival Director Bob Burns. Mr Burns reminded newcomers to the area to express their artistic flair and join in the Spirit of the Festival. “All you do is build a scarecrow for display and lodge an official entry form with organisers before the due date.

“Building a scarecrow with my children last weekend reminded me just how much enjoyment the whole family gets from the shared creative experience. It’s one of those rare opportunities that the whole family can enjoy, with equal input from toddlers to grandparents”.

Entries close September 17. Entry forms can be obtained from Maleny Newsagency, Maleny Information Centre, Maleny Post Office, Maleny IGA and Top Notch Secretarial Services. Entries can also be downloaded directly from the Festival website at www.scarecrow.net.au.

Any email enquiries can be directed to info@scarecrow.net.au or by phoning the scarecrow office on 5429 6555. Festival Director, Bob Burns can be contacted directly on mobile: 0408 542 965.
