Outstanding Performance
by Beerwah High
by Cameron Outridge

Beerwah High School claimed fourth place overall in the recent Regional Cross-Country championships held at Elizabeth Daniel Park at Buderim. Forty three schools attended the championships from the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane North areas.    The boy’s team placed third and the girl’s team placed fourth.

There were a number of outstanding performances for Beerwah High. Tim Byrne was regional champion in the 13 years boys and James Price placed fourth in the 14 years boys.   Both events had more than 150 runners.   Both the 13 and 14 years boys teams were the regional champions while the open boys finished second and the open girls and 13 years girls finished third.

Four of Beerwah’s top runners were injured and unable to compete while two were attending the Regional Touch championships, so the results were affected a little by this.

Tim Byrne and James price (photo above) will now compete at the state championships which will also be held at Elizabeth Daniel Park. Matt Bricalli, Jayna Higgins, Kirby hawthorn and Ben Vandermeer have been named as reserves.
