Maleny quilts help fire victims
rest a little easier
by Cameron Outridge

A recent article in the Canberra Times covered the collection and distribution of over 1300 quilts to Canberra bushfire victims.   It was a project coordinated by ACT craftswoman, Teresa Horsbough.

The quilts came from all around Australia and overseas, and have been much appreciated by the recipients.   Many of the recipients lost everything in the disastrous fires.   The Maleny Arts and Crafts Group was the only group actually mentioned in the article as a source of the quilts, and we know that at least one very happy 83 year old woman, Mrs Margaret Healy, now sleeps with a Maleny quilt on her bed.

“She finds great comfort in the generosity and consideration of people many kilometres away in Queensland,’’ an MACG spokesperson said.

“It’s gratifying that the kind donations and hard work of the Maleny Arts and Crafts Group Quilters has been recognised.”
