New Ambulance vehicle comes to Maleny
by Cameron Outridge

Maleny’s new Ambulance, a Mercedes Benz Sprinter 316 4x4 Ambulance, is the first vehicle of its type to be used in the Sunshine Coast area.

The vehicle is proving very useful because of its 4x4 ability in the slippery conditions in the Maleny area especially in the recent wet weather.    It is very spacious with lots of new equipment and ideas as opposed to the older vehicles used here in the past, and it is proving more serviceable and much more comfortable for patients providing a smoother ride.   The increased room inside makes it easier for paramedics to work out of and a lot safer, and has the ability to be switched off safely at the scene of accidents, with the beacons still flashing on the vehicle.

Generally it is a well-constructed ambulance and very suitable for use at Maleny.   With the continued support of the local ambulance committee both Maleny’s ambulances have been fitted out with much needed emergency care equipment such as defibrillators, soft pack oxygen kits a spinal mattress, airway kits and Global Position Systems

Recently group co-ordinator Barry Woods was on hand to welcome the new vehicle to the Maleny Station.

Our thanks once again to Cameron & Tanya Outridge
