Arts
& Craft Group
donates to Guide Dogs
by
Cameron Outridge
The pastel artists from the Maleny Arts and Crafts Group have been involved in a project to support Guide Dogs Queensland. Under the inspired teaching of Ann Wilson, they recently painted a selection of dogs, mostof them Guide Dog puppies. These beautiful paintings have subsequently been photographed and saved on a CD, which in turn, was given to Guide Dogs Queensland for use in future fundraising. Some of the original paintings were also donated, including Ann’s endearing portrayal of guide dog puppy Lexie.
On the weekend October 3 and 4, the pastel artists held an exhibition of their paintings at the Lions Convention in Beerwah, during which one of the paintings was raffled with the proceeds again going to Guide Dogs Queensland.
Helping other organisations with fundraising and responding to perceived needs is something the Maleny Arts and Crafts Group recognises as an intrinsic part of its place in the community, an involvement that offers members an opportunity to give something in return for the support the group receives.
