Bridge
Club raises $2500
for medical research
by Cammeron Outridge
On Thursday October 28 the Maleny Bridge Club hosted its third annual Bridge and Mahjong Day at Ken and Elizabeth Smith’s Braeside B&B to raise funds for the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. The Club takes great pride in being able to support the scientists in their search for cures for many diseases, not only cancer.
This year, particularly, the fundraising was very worthwhile as all donations made between now and Christmas will be matched dollar for dollar by Clive Berghofer of Toowoomba, a major QIMR sponsor. Everyone had a very enjoyable day of play followed by a delicious lunch and a monster raffle draw with over 70 prizes.
With the generosity of local businesses and the support of Club members and friends we are able to hand $2500 to Louise Moran-O’Connor from QIMR who visited the Club on Monday November 8. Thanks and deep appreciation to all who contributed to make a very successful day.
