Falls Cottages wins yet another award

by Cameron Outridge

The Falls Rainforest Cottages has added yet another accolade to its list of achievements winning the Hosted Accommodation category of the 2004 Hotel Motel and Accommodation Association of Queensland (HMAAQ) Awards on Friday 25 June, for the third year in a row!

The three-time Queensland Tourism Award winner and Hall of Fame entrant was declared the State’s best Hosted Accommodation at the Awards for Excellence dinner, which recognised properties across 23 categories.  Held at the Royal on the Park Hotel in Brisbane, The Falls’ Award was accepted by owners John and Denise Atkin who have operated the property for over three years.

The gala awards evening and ceremony was attended by more than 300 tourism operators from throughout Queensland with the Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading and Wine Industry Development the Honourable Margaret Keech MP as guest of honour. The Falls owners John and Denise Atkin said they were thrilled. “It is always rewarding to be recognised for furthering the standard of excellence offered to holidaymakers in the accommodation industry”, John said.

The Falls is one of Queensland’s most prestigious luxury escapes with B&B and private cottage accommodation situated in beautiful Montville.

The elegant 100 year old historic Queenslander has three completely private and period decorated guest rooms, each with private en-suite and double French doors opening to sweeping verandahs with breathtaking views.  In addition to the B&B accommodation, The Falls also offers six exclusive and private cottages nestled amidst the lush rainforest environment overlooking a deep valley that leads to the Kondalilla National Park.  John said The Falls was enjoying increasing popularity as more holiday makers choose to enjoy private retreat accommodation over hotelstyle getaways.

“With the current tourism climate, we are finding many people are choosing to enjoy affordable luxury holidays closer to home”.
