Glasshouse Hinterland
Lions get loud!

by Cameron Outridge

Glasshouse Hinterland Lions get loud!  On Sunday February 22, the Lions had their first club social event of the year at Maleny Bowls Club.   Approximately 60 people, made up of players and their families from the junior, women’s and men’s teams turned out to spend the afternoon together to mark the start of the 2004 football season. Club President, Craig Scrase, welcomed everybody and thanked the Maleny Bowls Club for letting us use their facilities.  Teams were formed and the games began!   The theme of the day was loud shirts .   Those not going along with the theme were fined.

Awards were presented to the best shirts.  The winner for the day was men’s player Luke Scott with his shirt, shorts and wig effort.  There was some bowls played too.  The ‘fine police’ were on hand during the day handing out sucker prizes to the worst efforts.  Fines were dished out for bowls going in the wrong direction, bowls falling ridiculously short of the kitty and bowlers continually finding the ditch.

A round robin tournament was played out and the eventual winner was Team 6 consisting of Zak (men’s player), Tegan (junior player) and Anthony (junior coach).  Congratulations to all who attended and thanks again to those involved in organising the event.

A reminder to all players, past and present, that training is well underway and fixture games are just weeks away. Players are still required for all arms of the club (Junior, Men’s, and Women’s). For more information, contact one of our co-coordinators.
