High
school prepares
for night of laughter
by Elise Martin
Everyone is encouraged to attend Maleny High School's Faulty Towers themed fundraiser this Saturday, July 24.'Faculty Towers Madness and Mayhem' will raise money towards providing shade over the school oval and is set to be a great night, including a three-course meal comedy skits, games, auctions and prizes galore.
Maleny High School canteen worker Verley Hooper said providing shelter had become a priority after attempts to grow trees for shade had failed. "The oval is used every day of the school year and we are in a sun cancer state," she said. Mrs Hooper said the shelter would cost about $16,000.
Prizes include a seven-night P&O Pacific Sky Cruise, a three-night getaway, dinner for two on The Kookaburra Queen and more.
Auctioneer John Gaundry will auction handmade hobby horses, donated by Blackall Range woodworkers and painted by the school's art teachers, and handmade angels by Verley Hooper. Tickets are $15 per person. Bookings are essential. Phone 5499 8131.
From left,Cameron Page, Emma Becker, Paul Tarbuck, Verley Hooper and Brad Owen will play Major, Polly, Basil, Mrs Richards, and Manuel respectively, at the 'Faculty Towers Madness and Mayhem' night.
