Jay Marmont top Australian
in Round 5 at Conondale

by Cameron Outridge

Open rider, Jay Marmont was in full throttle action on his KTM450SX to be the leading Australian rider at Round 5 of the Australian Motocross Championship in Conondale on Sunday.

Thousands of fans crowded the rolling hillside of Conondale Motocross track eager to catch a glimpse of the championship action and the riders did not disappoint.  Marmont, 21 years old from Wollongong, was the crowd favourite after taking out the win at last year's Conondale round.

In the Pro Open Moto race) of the day, Darryll King edged out Marmont by only 0.14 of a second, followed by Cheyne Boyd in third.  The Pro Open Championship results now see Darryll King in first on 229 points, Shayne King on 196 points and Jay Marmont on 170 points.

The riders now prepare for Round 6 of the Australian Motocross Championship in Appin, New South Wales on Sunday 18 July.
