Beerwah Lions Club
convention attracts hundreds

by Cameron Outridge

Last weekend (October 1-3) was the 2004 District Lions Legends Convention.  This annual event was hosted this year in Beerwah by Beerwah Lions Club.  Nearby Lions Clubs ably assisted with publicity, food handling etc and the local fire brigade served morning teas.  Thank you everyone for your support.

There were 360 Lions conventioneers actually registered.  However, many others just visited to attend a particular day or segment.  The grand opening flag raising ceremony was performed beautifully by local cadets and scouts was opened by Telstra’s Greer Furmage with Convention chairman Justin Neubecker, Mayor Don Aldous, MP Mal Brough, State member Carolyn Male all providing a very warm welcome to visiting conventioneers.

Beerwah Lions Convention Committee wishes to thank all those who supported Beerwah
Lions in any way and who helped make this convention one of the best: the fabulous displays by the Mountain Quilters, the local Craft group, and the Maleny Art & Craft Pastel groupwho also ran a raffle to aid Guide Dogs for the Blind and for introducing the visiting trainee guide dog Willow.

Of particular note is the many hours of time and effort provided by the Beerwah High School students who so professionally set up and performed all sound and lighting effects, not only did they do that, they were there offering to assist with locating banners and cleaning up afterwards.  What great leaders we have for tomorrow, thankyou.

Our thanks once again to Cameron & Tanya Outridge
of the Range News Newspaper for this story.
