Maytime
Arts and Crafts Festival
opens Friday
by
Cameron Outridge
The Maleny Arts and Crafts Group is holding its Maytime Festival of Arts and Crafts at the Maleny Community Centre from April 30 to May 3. Opening hours are 9am-5pm Friday to Sunday, and 9am-3.30pm on Monday.
The Community Centre is transformed for these shows, welcoming the visitor to a magic world filled with beauty and fascinating produce. Work is available in a wide variety of media, including pastels, water colours, pottery, sculpture, patchwork, china and fabric painting, woodwork, spinning, weaving and knitting, paper crafts and sewing. All products exhibited are locally produced, and are for sale. Amongst this wonderful display, there are plenty of thoughtful and unusual gifts in perfect time for mother’s day.
The raffle this year is a beautiful queen size quilt with two matching cushions, created by the quilting group. Tickets are a steal at $2.00, as the lucky winner will be the owner of a fabulous heirloom. Entry is by donation and refreshments are available from our own little café.
The Maytime Festival of Arts and Crafts is at the Maleny Community Centre from April 30.
