Developer appeals council rejection

by Elese Martin

Reed Property Group has appealed against Caloundra City Council’s decision to reject a Mooloolah Tavern.

Reed Property Group appealed the decision late last week after receiving strong feedback from the community. Corporate and Strategic Marketing Manager Rebecca Grisman said the Council had offered no other site for the tavern to be built.

“Council has publicly stated that they do not oppose the Tavern, only the location, and yet their town plan does not provide any alternative site for any infrastructure for Mooloolah. “We regard this as a lack of foresight and community consideration on their part,” she said. Mrs Grisman said RPG expected the case to be heard and decided within the next three months.

Caloundra City Council rejected the application by Reed Property Group last month after a number of community members expressed their opposition to the development.
