Water restrictions lifted in Maleny
by Cameron Outridge
Residents in the Maleny Water Supply Area will be pleased to know that the recent heavy rainfall has sufficiently topped up the levels in the Obi Obi Weirs, resulting in an immediate lifting of water restrictions.
Caloundra City Mayor, Don Aldous, said Maleny has recorded 94 millimetres of rain so far this month, with forecasts indicating there’s more to come.
“The seasonal rainfall is expected to be sufficient to maintain continuity of supply at this time of year, prompting Council to lift all water restrictions in the Maleny Water Supply Area,” Cr Aldous said.
“The lifting of water restrictions means that the use of hoses, sprinklers and other apparatus is now permitted. “Access to Council’s standpipe at the Maleny Showground is also available to water carriers.
“However, residents and businesses should still continue to be very mindful about water conservation to ensure adequate supply in the long term.”
