In
1946 a shy junior officer in the R.A.A.F. met a friends of his sister
and immediately knew that she was the girl that he was going to marry.
April
6th 1953 saw that officer and his girl marry. Fifty years later
on April 6th, 2003 saw over a hundred of their friends and family
get together at the Maleny R.S.L. to celebrate the joy of that past
50 years.
Lloyd
& Shirley have had a varied life having traveled around the country
with the R.A.A.F. and then being "loaned" to the Australian
Army with the introduction of Army helicopters.
Lloyd
and Shirley are a pair who join in community organisations - not separately
but as a couple. They are arguably the best known couple in
the Maleny community as they are volunteers in over 90% of community
organisations. Neither are happy in an organisation unless they
are 100% hands on. They are not there for the ride.
After
leaving the Defence Department both Lloyd and Shirley drove school
busses carrying students to both Maleny State and State High schools.
Shirley
is foster mother to half the town - even people older than she.
