Erowal Retirement Village at Maleny caters for people who wish to livbe an independent life in the hinterland of Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Situated about a kilometer south of Maleny the village is surrounded by dairy farms and grazing land. It is situated on the banks of Obi Obi Creek. Many people come to live at the village from places far away from Maleny. This is their time to enjoy life and smell the roses. Residents have a varied lifestyle with many recreation pursuits to follow. Each year there is a themed dinner dance to which they invite members of the Maleny community at large. This event is held in the dining area of the village and is catered for by staff and volunteers. This is a great way not only for those living at the village but for the wider community members to get to know locals and visitors alike. The themed night for 2004 was a "mad hatters" party. Enjoy some of the photos taken that night

Photo Left: There was a lot of bull in the air on this night. Below: Mary and Helen join in the best hat competition.

Photo above: "Brindacella" wanted to go to the Erowal Mad hat party but her ugly step mother wouldn't let her so she had to do the chores instead. Her fairy godmother came and transformed her into the "party girl" and she went incognito but had to be home at midnight. She lost her "golden" charm when hurrying to be home in time. The slovenly prince was smitten by her "golden charm" and vowed to find her at all costs. You know the rest of the story....... I don't know whether you have heard it told this way before though! The night wouldn't have been the same without the old songs sung by the Village Choir What a great night and a great way to meet the locals.
