It
is a timely question given the region’s rapid growth. And it is a
question Sunshine Coast council has decided to pose to the public.
Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Bob Abbot has launched a programme called, “Zooming into 2030 competition”. It is a council– community initiative to give local residents a chance to have a say about how they see the area develop heading towards 2030.
Mayor Abbott said, “Captions must start with, “In 2030 I hope that ...” and contestants must submit a picture or create an image of how they would like the Coast look like in 2030. It should contain no more than 25 words.
Cr ABbott’s view is that he hopes that the Sunshine Coasts environment remains healthy enough so tha this grand-children can still catch a feed of fish.
There are prizes worth $2000 with an overall mayoral prize of $1000 will be awarded across the three categories, 13 and under, 14 to 21 and open.
This is a real opportunity for individuals to have an input into the coasts future livability.
Entries must be in Council hands by 5pm on September 17. The judging panel will include Sunshine Coast Mayor, Bob Abbot, council
representatives, industry professionals and community members.
Further information about the competition is available on the Sunshine Coast council’s website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au
