Traveston Dam construction awaiting final approval

Finally, the announcement that the Traveston Dam on the Mary River will be constructed has been made by the Queensland Government and all that is between final approval and commencement of construction is the approval of the Federal Environmental Minister, Peter Garrett acting under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.

Fire threatens homes at Conondale

Rural Fire crews have been battling a fire since early evening on September 4th that has burnt out more than 50 hectares  bush fire that raged for several days in almost impenetrable terrain near Conondale.
