In a statement released on Sunday August 28th police reveal that bones found at a site at Beerwah are those of Daniel Morcombe.       Details have been confirmed in relation to human remains in the form of three bones that were found at the site which police and SES have been searching in Beerwah.

DNA testing has confirmed these human remains to be Daniel Morcombe.

The Morcombe family has been advised of these results, and the Queensland Police Service extends its condolences to them during this difficult time.

The bones were located near where two shoes were found in the primary search site off Kings Road.    Forensic testing of the shoes is ongoing.    The search of the site continues.

In another development a four wheel drive Mitsubishi Pajero wagon has been seized on Russell Island off Cleveland.    In other developments it is believed that police are working on information that a vehicle fitted with global positioning equipment was in the area from where Daniel was abducted at the time of the abduction.

On August 15th, a 41 year old man, Brett Peter Cowan appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with a number of charges, including the murder of Daniel Morcombe.

The search of the Beerwah crime scene will continue as weather conditions improve.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
