If you think that leaving your broken down car on the side of the roadway whilst going for assistance was safe then think again.

Josh Dean of Maleny found out that it was not to his peril.    About 5p.m. last Wednesday afternoon Josh was returning home from Caboolture where he had been attending a work related training course when his car developed an engine problem whilst travelling along Brandenberg Road, Bald Knob.

He left the car on the side of the road and made his way home to get some help.

At about 10.30p.m. he received a phone call from police to advise him that the vehicle had been pushed about 100 meters down a very steep hillside.    It had been reported by a neighbouring resident who heard the noise of the crashing car as it cart-wheeled down the hillside.    They also saw the car headlights blazing.

Believing that some person may have been in the vehicle the scene was attended by Queensland Fire Service officers who determined that the vehicle was unattended.

The car, an older model Toyota was totally destroyed.    The vehicle is believed to be uninsured.

Josh said that he did not have any idea who might have rolled the car down the hillside, but he was pretty angry about the incident.    He used the car as a "run-around" vehicle.

A police spokesperson said that they had no suspicions about whom might have committed this offence.

Any persons with any information about the incident or who might know the identity of the offenders should ring Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
