A male person,. aged about 25 years was seriously injured in a road collision on Maleny - Kenilworth Road, Conondale at about 5.15p.m. on January 5th, 2012.
This
incident involved a single vehicle and the driver who was the only
occupant was injured when he lost control of the vehicle and it left the
road crashing into a tree.
The
driver of the vehicle was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted
by emergency service personnel. He was then transported to the Royal
Brisbane Hospital by helicopter where he remains in a critical
condition.
The forensic crash unit is investigating. The cause of the collision in this instance is unknown at this time.
A Maleny Police spokesperson urged motorists to take care on our country roads. This is the second serious accident in our area in just a few days. He continued that most accidents are caused through inattention or by not remembering the “fatal four” causes of traffic incidents. Those are speeding, driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving when tired or fatigued and not wearing seat belts.
The greatest risk to people in the Maleny area from harm is on our roads.
