Former MP Neil Turner dies |

Former
Queensland Speaker of Parliament and local Maleny resident, Neil Turner
died on Monday July 4th as a result of a stroke. Well known, Mr.
Turner had lived in Maleny before shifting to Nambour.
He was The Member for Warrego from 1974 to 1986, firstly as a Country Party Member, then as a National Country Party member after the name change in 1975. He then went on to become The Member for Nicklin from 1989 to 1998.
During his term in parliament, Mr. Turner held the portfolios of Transport and Primary Industries under Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen.
He also held the position of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly for one term.
He was always proud of his election win of Warrego in 1974 which saw him the first conservative representative since Federation.
Mr. Turner was 77 years of age.
