Pre-construction
activities have begun in certain parts of the Sunshine Coast area under
a revised NBN rollout approach that will save months in construction
time and see the project completed earlier and at less cost, but Maleny
town area is still not on the horizon.
Federal Member for Fisher, Mr. Mal Brough said, “The NBN recently reached the one million premised passed milestone. By September 2016, more than three million homes and businesses will have an NBN service in place or under construction.”
He was unable to specify when Maleny township might be considered for implementation of high speed broadband internet.
Broadband internet speeds in the Maleny township are very hap-hazard and unreliable. This causes communication difficulties for modern businesses and families who use it for educational purposes.
Mr Brough vowed to keep up the fight to have the technology delivered to fast-developing communities. He continued to say that planning and extensive rollout trials have allowed NBN to significantly speed up the construction process.
Presently there is some proposal to have wireless internet connection to the area around Maleny, however there is a small but very aggressive community movement against the proposal to use WIFI as the meas of delivery of that system to those areas.
Swift internet is no longer a luxury but is now a necessity.
