Perfectly
fine weather on Friday December 4th ensured that the Maleny Chamber of
Commerce christmas street party went off in perfect conditions.
As a result a larger than normal crowd attended the traditional Maple Street function. The function originally started out as a number of functions at various business premises where business owners and customers got together to celebrate the Christmas Festival season.
Now, each year the Maleny Chamber of Commerce organises a Maleny Christmas “thank-you” to local business supporters. The night included fun for all age members of the family and a program of musical entertainment.
The Maleny Chamber of Commerce presented a laptop computer as a special prize to the lucky winner, Catherine O'Connell. This was the major prize in the muti-prize raffle drawn on the night.
The secondary purpose is to raise funds for a local charity and this year the beneficiary was the Maleny Hospital Auxiliary. This group of dedicated volunteers raise precious funds to improvements at the Maleny Soldiers memorial Hospital.
