Two workers from Maleny Dairies were conveyed to the Maleny Hospital on Monday April 11th following an accident involving the milk tanker that they were travelling in when it overturned on Maleny-Kenilworth Road at Elamon Creek, Conondale.
Neither
person was seriously injured in the incident. Both were released from
hospital following treatment. The driver sustained a cracked rib
whilst the passenger was treated for some neck and back stiffness along
with minor cuts and grazes.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Spokesperson
for Maleny Dairies, Ross Hopper said, “Being without our tanker at
this time is inconvenient as we are processing extra milk as a result of
a dispute between local dairy farmers and their manufacturer.”
He
continued, “There would not be any noticeable disruption to milk supply
from Maleny Dairies. We have our our herd of dairy cows which are our
main source of milk for processing.”
Whilst the tanker in this instance was not insured a replacement tanker is being sourced.
Mr. Hopper still had some hope of recovering much of the milk so that it could be processed. The tank remained in tact in this instance.
Maleny
Dairies is presently increasing their production of milk in an effort
to support local dairy farmers who are struggling as a result of the recent price
reductions being paid to them because of the price war between the
major grocery retailers.
