Maleny Dairies recalls some products
Written by Les Fawkes

Local Dairy and milk processor,  Maleny Dairies has recalled several of its products due to possible chemical contamination.

Range of Maleny Dairy Products
The products recalled are: Maleny Dairies Low Fat Milk, Full Cream Milk and Farmers Choice Guernsey Milk with use-by dates of October 24 and 25, Maleny Dairies Skim Milk with a use-by date of October 22, Maleny Dairies Chocolate, Coffee and Strawberry varieties with a use-by date of October 25 and Maleny Dairies Goats Milk with use-by dates of October 24 and 25.

A Maleny Dairies spokesperson said the products had been recalled after the business received several phone calls from customers, who complained of a "funny taste in the milk".    The only chemicals used in the production line are food-grade cleaners and sanitisers and testing to date have come up negative.

He continued,   "Most of the calls were about low-fat milk with a use-by date of October 24.”

Consumers can return any of the above products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Maleny Dairies   milk recall!
Chemicals not the problem!

Following a recall on dairy products manufactured by Maleny Dairies with a best by date of  October 24th there appears to be an answer.

It was first thought that there may have been a contamination of the product with some non-harmful food grade cleaning fluids.

The results of testing has come back and cleaning fluids and other chemicals have been ruled out.

A Maleny Dairies spokesperson said,  “The taste has been traced to the cows munching on too much clover in the hinterland pastures.”

This voluntary product recall has cost Maleny Dairies $50,000.
