Maleny High School Beefies
Written by Les Fawkes

Friday 29th May at Maleny Show is the day for school teams to show off their judging, parading and handling skills, with the Shannon Shield for junior judging hotly contested.

Top level guest judges award points to the schools who compete throughout the day’s classes for handling, presentation, knowledge and a wide range of skills. Maleny High School’s beef team are defending champions of the 2014 junior judging competition, and are no doubt honing their skills in readiness to take on their main rivals, Noosa High again in 2015.

Maleny also won the School Challenge Cup in 2014, with Noosa High taking out the Herdsperson Award.

It’s not all work though - at the end of the day, the school beef teams challenge the school dairy teams annually to a tug-of-war, another hard fought for honour! The “Beefies” were victorious last year - so the “Dairies” have some work to do to win in 2015!.

See you in the beef shed at the Maleny Agriculture Show on 29th and 30th May.
