Maleny Police get extra staff
Written by Les Fawkes
Tuesday, 26 April 2011
Maleny Police station has received an extra two sworn staff to assist in policing the Maleny area.

This staff increase further adds to staff increases in the area over the last decade as two 24 hour stations have been opened, one at Beerwah and one at Sippy Downs.   There has also been a staff increase at the Landsborough Police Station.

According to Officer in Charge, Maleny Police Station, Sergeant Gary Ricks the extra staff will allow an extended police presence in the Maleny - Conondale area.

Maleny Police station first opened in 1952 as a one officer station.   Prior to that the area was policed by police officers from Landsborough who would visit the area once a week or as was necessary.   The station has remained on the same site since it was established.
