Maleny Real Estate Office suffers fire damage

The Ray White Real Estate Office in Maple Street, Maleny was damaged by fire on the night of Monday 27th July.   Whilst the rear of the shop suffered substantial damage as a result of paper records burning the main body of the shop sustained smoke and water damage. It is suspected that the overnight attack was arson. Maleny Fire officers were called to the Real Estate Agency at about 6.20 pm.  It was reported that smoke was coming from the building.   They found the rear section of the office on fire but were able to contain the blaze after forcing entry.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the office had have been ransacked prior to the fire and records destroyed.   A computer was also stolen.

Scientific officers from Brisbane carried out an examination of the scene on Tuesday.

Neighbouring shops suffered smoke damage in this incident.

Ray White has only recently moved into this location after having the office extensively renovated.   A spokesperson said that they did not believe that this attack was expressly directed against this business but was more likely to be a random attack.

Ray White spokesperson, Terry Sternberg said that it was business as usual during the office disruption.

No one was injured in this incident.

Anyone with any information about this incident should report it to Maleny Police.

A report is being completed by police for presentation to the Coroner.
