At last Wednesday’s changeover dinner for
Maleny Rotary, President of MDSRC Mike Norman was made a Paul
Harris Fellow. The Paul Harris Fellow award is the highest
award that Rotary can make for ‘outstanding services in the
community’.
The Rotary Foundation launched the Paul Harris Fellowship in 1957 in memory of the founder of Rotary International as an expression of appreciation for those who have contributed to the Foundation’s humanitarian and educational programs.
The Paul Harris Fellow recognition in Australia is seen as an award which is made to individuals who have given significantly through their involvement within the community and/or their Rotary club in the spirit of “Service above Self’. It is rare for it to be awarded to a non Rotarian.
Mike received the award for the hard work he has done for sport and recreational groups in the local community, especially for his role in guiding the processes to ensure a balanced result for sport and recreational clubs on the Maleny Community Precinct. As an umbrella organisation, MDSRC represents the interests of 31 affiliated clubs and 253 individual members.
The committee of MDSRC congratulates and applauds Mike for this very well deserved award.
Congratulations Mike!
