Organisers
expected perhaps 40 cars to turn up to the first ever muscle car event
at the Maleny Showgrounds. The near perfect weather and a great
location, the Maleny Show grounds guaranteed that many more than that
would turn up. On the day, that many cars were already parked on the
oval by 8.30 am with the final entries numbering more than 140 cars.
On top of that a couple of hundred spectators also made their way to Maleny to view the “muscle cars of yesterday”.
Car Clubs came from Brisbane and the coast, with Fords, Toranas, Chevrolets, Hot Rods, Mustangs and many more rubbing shoulders beautifully with the vintage cars also on display.
Organiser, Colin Sinclair put a lot of work into getting this event off the ground and already, the dozens of car clubs and car lovers who turned up are calling for it to become an annual show ‘n’ shine!
Mr Sinclair said, “ Most people put a lot of time, effort and money into maintaining their muscle cars in top condition. They also need to put the same effort into maintaining their “other” muscle. All the funds from this event are going to prostrate cancer research.”
Show Society volunteers put on a superb lunch, with the Maleny Coffee Mobile keeping the caffeine up to participants and attendees. Whilst no decision has been made at this stage in regard to this event there is consideration being given to making it an annual event.
