Following a complaint received with respect to Mr Slipper’s spending for the period 01 Jul - 31 Dec 2009 an inquiry was commenced by the Federal Department of Finance and Deregulation.
Mr. Slipper M.P. is the Independent Federal Member for Fisher and is the Speaker of the Federal Parliament.
In

was revealed that The Federal Department of Finance and Deregulation has
cleared Mr. Slipper, Member for Fisher and now Federal House Speaker
of any wrongdoing linked to his entitlement spending and has concluded
its investigation.
The Federal Department of Finance and Deregulation has not indicated how
the money was spent nor the community benefit gained from that spending.
Mr Slipper said in his statement , “I am pleased that as expected my spending has been found to be in order” .
This inquiry did not stop Mr. Slipper from spending an average of $1073 a
day on airfares, taxis, commonwealth cars and office supplies between
January 1st and June 30th last year.
Mr Slipper also said in his statement that he was a strong supporter of
openness and transparency where public money is concerned, however he
has now put the matter behind him.
