Back on the 13th March, 1987 the
Maleny Show Grounds was the venue of the very first Maleny Folk
Festival. At the last Maleny Folk Festival in 1994 some 60,000 people
attended.
From this humble beginning the international acclaimed Woodford Folk Festival was born.
Once again Maleny, or more correctly Conondale is to be home to a music festival.
Green Park which is more commonly known for the now defunct Conondale Picnic Race meetings and now more commonly known as the home of the Sunshine Coast Motor Cycle Club.
The site is now better known as the location of big name motor cycle events such as the Queensland and Australian MX Titles Enduros and the Thumper Nats.
This will change in September
when a three day music event, The Utribe Festival will be held in this
quiet country valley surrounded by undulating hills.

This is the first time that a
music festival has been held at the site and is is expected that the
event will be run annually after this, the inaugural festival, in 2009.
Organiser, Mim Colstock said, “There has been tremendous support from a number of local and interstate musicians. Some of those attending include Ash Grunwald, Red Eyes, Dubmarine, Tijuana Cartel, Toothfaeries.”
