The 2011 Festival of the Walks provided an opportunity
for supporters of the Maleny Precinct to walk over the site and find out more about the scope of the project, with a series of walks conducted throughout the day.
Saturday
dawned crisp and clear - terrific weather for walkers, who took full
advantage to experience the various early Precinct trails on offer with
gusto.
After a warming cuppa, and a look at the maps, Sunshine Coast Regional Councillor, Jenny McKay welcomed everyone and joined the happy treckers.
Starting from Pattemore House, all walks were well attended, with The Friends of Pattemore House delighted to show visitors the Heritage track to the Old Bails, and from there it was down to historic Reynold’s Crossing.
The old road to the creek crossing, and it’s proximity to Gardner’s Falls was the talk of the day.
Simultaneously, many more visited the expansive new playing fields and the golfing fairways; the sausage sizzle at the driving range topped off a beautiful and busy morning.
After lunch, more walkers visited the planned Creek trails network.
A terrific day out on this magnificent parcel of land, and an early taste of what is to come on the Precinct, with it’s many opportunities for visitors seeking a variety of outdoor experiences.
