Unity Water Chief Executive, Jon Black has announced that the cost of water is about to rise again.
The
average water account for a two person household, using 190 litres per
day will be approximately $880.00 per year. He stated that the rise in
costs were as a result of the Queensland State Government increasing
the cost of bulk water by about 25%.
This is the second price rise in three months.
Mr
Black said that because of the rise in bulk water price, Unitywater
cannot take responsibility for the price rise and any blame should be
directed towards the State Government.
This rise in the cost to families of an essential utility will cause further distress to the family budget.
In spite of the recent publicity about water prices and the thought that the Sunshine Coast Regional Council might take responsibility for water back it is believed that the Council has decided to continue to have water supplied by Unitywater.
