“The Sunshine Coast is fortunate to have such an active volunteer community, which works diligently, often behind the scenes and out of public view, to make a difference to the community and the people around them,” Mr Slipper said.
“The volunteers don’t expect any public recognition as their reward is the satisfaction they receive for doing such a wonderful job, but it’s an honour to be able to present them with a special certificate to give them some recognition publicly for their efforts.” The certificates were presented to Penny McClennan and Rob Norris at Maleny and Ron Gillinder, Elaine Reeves, and Gwen Malcolm in the Glass House area. Mrs McClennan dedicates significant amounts of time to Meals on Wheels and to Lifeline, while Mr Norris was recognised for his community work through the Range Care Group and Meals on Wheels at Maleny.
Mr Ron Gillinder was recognised for his efforts in administration and general management of the historic Bankfoot House at Glass House as it is prepared for opening to the public. Mrs Gwen Malcom was recognised for her volunteer work with the Glass House Mountains Advancement Network (GMAN) and with Bankfoot House and Ms Elaine Reeves dedicates time to various organisations, including Bankfoot House, the Glasshouse Sports Club, the Peachester Historical Society and the Beerwah Charity Sports Committee. |
