Local state government and council representatives have both identified a greatly improved road network as their number one priority over the next three years.
Caloundra City Division 2 Cr Anna Grosskreutz and State Member for
Glasshouse Carolyn Male MP have determined that planning and funding to
fix or move the railway level crossing in Beerwah would be their
immediate priority, with the Roys Road intersection also needing to be
re-examined.
In order to fix these intersections and other problem areas, they hope
to establish a project team consisting local and state officers to
begin for the Glasshouse Country. Cr Grosskreutz and Ms Male said
they could only achieve these improvements by forming a partnership and
working together. They have had many meetings in recent months to
discuss the road network priorities and strategies for achieving
results for the local community.
Cr Grosskreutz said: ?Working independently of each other does not achieve results. More and more I become
convinced that all levels of government need to speak to eachother and
coordinate their strengths so that important funding can be allocated
and achieved to meet infrastructure needs.?
Carolyn Male MP said: ?For too long planning has been pushed from local
to state and back again, with no real coordinated approach that local
residents can provide input to and more importantly, see results.
?The South East Regional Infrastructure Plan has provided a real
impetus to fix our own local road problems,? Ms Male said.
