The Biolytix Waste Treatment System has just won the Premier of
Queensland's Smart Award for The Rising Star. The Premier said the
Smart Award "shines a light on those companies that are leading the
way, that are raising the bar when it comes to operating a business
that can succeed in a globally competitive marketplace." It is a big win for Maleny.
Biolytix was born in Maleny and is now one of its biggest employers. The company is like one big

The award highlights Maleny's uniqueness and creative talents. Biolytix was up against some tough competition with other entrants employing up to 650 staff. Biolytix inventor Dean Cameron said: "I would like to not only thank all our fantastic staff, but give a big thanks to The Range News. They foresaw our potential early on and have been highlighting it since."
The award took the company somewhat by surprise. "We got dressed for the award night in the Brisbane factory among the waste treatment systems and then we could barely fit in the car as it was filled with the innards of a septic tank retrofit. I thought we at least deserved a mention," marketing officer Jenny Allen said.
"My hopes rose, however, when we got to the Brisbane Convention Centre. There was 500 metres of carpet - all decorated with worm-like creatures ... I took it as a good omen!"
Most of Biolytix's sales are word of mouth. So they now have a Referral System, which gives $50 for every successful referral. It is available to anyone, including businesses. To make some easy money phone Biolytix on 5435 2700.
