The World Expo in Japan has just announced the Biolytix(tm) Waste Treatment System as a Global Eco-Tech Award winner.
The award is given to "environmental technologies that contribute significantly to the resolution of global environmental problems". The Biolytix Waste Treatment System received the best result in the world for the most compact biological system. It is also the most greenhouse friendly waste treatment system in the world.
Biolytix inventor Dean Cameron said: "We spent three million dollars in research and development to make Australia a leader in water recycling. The Biolytix(tm) technology is a giant leap forward for wastewater recycling for households, housing developments and commercial buildings. It makes recycling water more attractive and easier. Wastewater recycling will now become the norm."
The Biolytix Waste Treatment System converts household sewage, greywater, foodscraps and sanitary items into irrigation water. The systems can also be networked together for housing developments, called Biowater. Biowater costs half as much as conventional sewerage infrastructure and recycles water onsite.
This will be the way for new developments as well as the 450,000 Australian homes that are on Sewerage Backlog Programs. Most are currently on septics that are polluting the environment with studies showing 70 percent of septics fail within five years. The Biolytix system can also be retrofitted into a (sound) septic tank to provide consistent, quality water.
Biolytix was a winner in the Waste Management Category at the Eco-Tech Awards. It was the only Australian sewage and wastewater recycling technology to win. It will use the 1,000,000 YEN prize money to make it more economically feasible to recycle wastewater back to the house to flush toilets, wash laundry and use for hot water. It also plans to help solve many sewage and wastewater problems in developing countries.
There is a Biolytix information session in Maleny on Friday July 1 from 8.30am to 10am. View the see-through waste treatment system to see how the invention works. This includes a free morning tea and chat with the inventor. Phone Tracey on 5435 2700 to book. For more details see www.biolytix.com
