Thanks to the commitment of the Maleny and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Maleny will once more hold its popular Christmas Street Carnival. Lacking a coordinator and the uncertainty surrounding public liability insurance for such events, last year's carnival was cancelled. Most Maleny residents were dismayed that the event did no go ahead.
This year the Maleny and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry will ensure the Carnival takes place. A group have already had a meeting to discuss the format and recruit others to assist them in this task. They are working with the assistance of former event organiser Lindsay Kruger to make the Street Carnival an event to remember.
A meeting for any other organisations or individuals who are also keen to assist this event being reinstated will be held in the CWA Room at 7.30pm on Thursday April 14th. Invitations to attend this meeting will be sent out specifically to other service clubs in the town.
The Chamber is also asking that any business which would like to help by sponsoring the fireworks aspect can contact Karen Binstead at Top Notch Business Services on 5494 3677. Otherwise, just turn up at the meeting where all (members of groups and individuals alike) are welcome to attend. Let's celebrate this Christmas in the good old Maleny style. |
