Conondale celebrates hall upgrade
Written by Administrator
Monday, 12 September 2005
A big night in Conondale was enjoyed by easily 170 people with a number of significant achievements being acknowledged on the night.    First to the fun - the dance floor quickly filled as Sunshine Swing Band belted out popular jazz numbers.    As the happy throng loosened up, 60/40 gave way to jive and rock.   Ian Fleiter (himself a Conondale celebrity) presided over a short presentation to acknowledge Conondale Hall legends.   Loyd and Nancy Fleiter were recognised for their contribution to the Conondale Hall over almost 50 years.    Loyd was hall committee president for 48 years until 2000 and has along the way been involved in many hall projects and events.

Mary and Loyd Fleiter, Peter Pamment, Justin Dunham acknowledged by Ian Fleiter at Conondale Hall Dance.

Loyd's wife Mary and her band of quilters have been important contributors to hall funds with the annual Conondale Quilt Show.    Others have now taken up hall committee positions but the role that Loyd and Mary have played will be remembered.   Others recognised on the night were Peter Pamment and Barb Mahoney for spearheading efforts to get TV in the valley.   This was a long hard fight with many set backs, but with a final successful and happy outcome.

Justin Dunham was thanked for the fantastic job, above and beyond the call of duty, given to the hall upgrade - kitchen, stage area, toilets and barbecue area - and Peter Pamment who submitted the successful Jupiter's Grant application  for the upgrade.
