The Tranquil Park Resort hosted the annual Irish Road Bowls Competition on Saturday March 19 to celebrate St Patrick?s Day.
It marked the day for a record amount of funds being raised for local community groups. The grand total of $4300 will be shared between Maleny State Emergency Service (SES), Maleny and Community Kindergarten and Meals on Wheels. The Monster raffle was an exciting event with many prizes to be won, but the highlight of the day was the Mystery Auction. John Hyde of Hyde?s Plumbing was the proud purchaser of the 2005 signed Broncos jersey for an undisclosed amount. Congratulations John.
Thank you to the business?s that sponsored teams, plus prizes for the raffle, Maleny Glass and Maleny Picture Framing Gallery for donation of services and everyone who participated to help make this day a success. And now to the results.
The winner of the overall Irish Road Bowls Comp 2005 and Men?s Comp was defending champion Dale Diefenbach bowling for R&L Anderson Plumbing. He completed the 4.5 kilometres course from the Celtic Tearoom to the Tranquil Park Resort in just 47 throws. He also took out the trophy for the Men?s Longest Bowl which was 202.5 metres in length.
